The Monster has always been here, haunting the security of man, feeding upon our fears. He has taken countless forms, though He reveals His true shape to only an unfortunate few. The ancient accounts tell of the Box Monster preying upon the souls of the righteous, testing their resolve, tempting their weaknesses. But the ancients also betray His weakness; the Monster was born of discordia, forged from strife, and as such He is physically pained and weakened by the power of harmony. Scholars believe that mankinds’ tribal ancestors began to gather around the communal hearth in order to sing away the darkness, and keep the Box Monster at bay. The Greeks both feared and regarded Him, this lover of Nyx, father of Eris. From time immeasurable, minstrels and troubadours of the world have been the emissaries of the power of song. Sadly, as their popularity and influence has waned, the proliferation of His influence over the world has begun.
The Box Monster cannot be stopped, yet it must; we are charged with a duty of eld. For all recorded time, those initiated into the power of music have picked up the ax to battle the Monster.
